If you go to Nassau on a cruise, this is perfectly safe walk from the ship. It takes maybe 15-20 minutes. At about halfway there is a free beach called Junkanoo Beach which is very clean and has restrooms. This is also a beautiful place to take pictures of the cruise ships in port.

How to Get There. Arawak Cay is located west of Downtown Nassau, off West Bay Street. The no. 10 bus from Downtown Nassau stops nearby. There’s plenty of parking if you’re renting a scooter or buggy to get around the island, and it is walking distance from the cruise terminal/Straw Market area.
This is the area to be when you want live music, dj playing music, souvenirs, great dine in restaurants and take out food with an area to sit and enjoy the sound of the waves at the beach. This is the place to be, at any time of the day you can get good food beer and music.
