Fast Times at Ridgemont High was pretty good but is it really "authentic"? finally watched it after blind buying the Criterion Edition Blu ray. Overall, while I don't think it was a masterpiece or anything It was definitely enjoyable with a great soundtrack and of course a great cast of actors that became big.
But for the most part this movie justexploits its performers by trying to walk a tightrope between comedy andsexploitation. In addition to Leigh's work, however, there are some other goodperformances. Sean Penn is perfect as the pot-smoking space cadet who has beenstoned since the third grade.
