   Is hop a good movie?

   • Is It Any Good? HOP is nothing more than a generic holiday movie with a bunny swapped in for good ol' St. Nick. Director Tim Hill is a kids' flick veteran, and, after Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties and Alvin and the Chipmunks, somewhat of an "expert" at comedies that feature both live-action and computer-animated creatures.

   What is 'hop' based on?

   • Hop is the latest in that long tradition—except that instead of December it’s April, and instead of focusing on Christmas and Santa and reindeer and gifts, this animated/live-action hybrid exchanges those familiar elements for a parallel tale about an aging Easter Bunny and his immature, would-be hare, er, we mean, heir.

   • Although some hail Hop as a family-friendly Easter classic, the message of this film is something far more insidious. Akin to the worst examples of racial and ethnic stereotyping found in twentieth century film, the not-so-subtle message of Hop is that those who speak with a "Spanish" dialect do not count in American society.
