Mission Waco has been a cornerstone of the Waco community for decades. Even before the official creation of Mission Waco, founders Jimmy and Janet Dorrell worked hard to make a difference in the impoverished neighborhood of North Waco.
How Mission Waco Came to Be. In 1978, Jimmy and Janet Dorrell bought a deteriorating house in the middle of a blighted neighborhood in North Waco. Based on their understanding of incarnational ministry, they sensed their vocational call was to live among the poor and help bring “good news” through relationships and empowerment opportunities.
Over 30 Years Serving Communities. Mission Waco Mission World strives to eliminate poverty in their own backyard and around the world through hands-on compassion. They empower the poor, mobilize the middle-class and address systemic issues in order to develop the whole person and the whole city.
The Indians were experiencing new weapons in their trading with the white man. In time the Indians were used to kill other Indians so their lands and springs of water could be used exclusively by the white man for commerce and monetary gain.
