  1. Oct 17, 2022 · School History. Vancouver Technical School had its humble start in the basement of King Edward High School on 12th and Oak in September 1916. Under the leadership of J. George Lister, later described as the "Founder of Technical Education in B.C.", the school moved to more spacious quarters in the Labour Temple located on the corner of Homer and Dunsmuir.

  7. Vancouver Technical Secondary School, often referred to as Van Tech, is a public secondary school located on the East Side of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. History. The school originally opened in 1916, for boys only, in the Fairview neighbourhood. It then moved downtown until 1928 when it settled into its present location in East Vancouver.
