The Bronx Zoo, the Wildlife Conservation Society’s flagship park, opened on November 8, 1899. Since then, the zoo has created a unique window into the natural world for city dwellers in the heart of the Bronx - and serves as a springboard and hub for conservation efforts across the entire planet.
Apr 30, 2024 · One hundred and twenty-five years after it first opened its doors in 1899 (and more than 250 million visitors later), the Bronx Zoo is kicking off a season of anniversary events.
Zoo Opens. 10:00am. Animal Exhibits Close. 4:00pm. Zoo Closes. 4:30pm. Last entry to the zoo is 45 min prior to park closing. Animal exhibits close 30 min prior to park closing. Exhibit line may close earlier if there is a wait time of more than 30 min. Bug Carousel and Nature Trek are open until park closing.

The Bronx Zoo is open year-round. We close on the following holidays: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day, and Martin Luther King Day. Spring and summer are naturally high-attendance seasons, but we encourage guests to visit during fall and winter as well.
