Jan 1, 2004 · It was made into a movie (I AM DAVID), which was good, but not as good as this wonderful book about a boy who escapes a prison camp and finds his way north to his mother in Denmark. There are several wonderful parts. When David wakes up the morning after his escape, he sees color all around him.

  5. Sep 13, 2003 · I read the book before seeing the movie and was impressed with how similar they were. Ben tibber, who played David, was really a wonderful actor and communicated a wealth of depth even in the silent scenes. I was also very uplifted by the message of hope and the courage to press on.
