Obscure early 80’s Australian folk horror jam opens with a ominous (and spectacular) ‘ask the glass’ ouija seance before slipping into a laid back Rosemarys Baby-esque setup which I always find intriguing, especially when the mysteriousness at play surrounding the titular birthday party is pulled off well in a mood based in the dying embers of 1970’s horror atmosphere.
