The Timișoara Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral (Catedrala Mitropolitană din Timișoara) is an early 20th-century Neo-Moldavian style Orthodox church located in Timisoara, Romania. The Orthodox Cathedral is perhaps the most iconic sight in all of Timisoara.
The 63 m long and 32m wide cathedral has 11 cupolas, the greatest of 83,7m. A special attention is attributed to the 7 bells, harmonized by the composer Sabin Drăgoi; their sound impress through the unusual resonance and it can be heard in the whole town.
The seven bells, cast in Anton Novotny's workshop, have a total weight of 7,000 kg and were made of an alloy of metals brought from Indonesia (Sumatra and Borneo). Their harmonization was done by the composer Sabin Drăgoi . [8]

In 1791, when the church was restored under Bishop Petru Petrovici, it was completed with the two towers in which the five bells are located, one of which weighs 800 kg. The church was used jointly by the Romanian and Serbian Orthodox believers until the middle of the 19th century, when the two churches separated.
The Metropolitan Cathedral of Timisoara was built between 1936 and 1941 and is a symbol of the city. This gigantic project was led by Ioan Traianescu, the architect of many other major Orthodox churches in Romania.
