The home at Oakland Plantation was constructed in 1823 by Dr. Thomas Austin. Upstate Preservation Trust acquired the plantation house, ten outbuildings, and 50+ acres of land in the heart of Simpsonville in summer 2024.

This project protects 52 acres of open land and the associated 19th century plantation buildings from development, in an area dominated by residential subdivisions. This is a historically and architecturally significant site, with types of structures found nowhere else in Greenville County.
