It was originally the Columbia Phonograph Company and distributed Edison phonographs and recorded cylinders throughout the Washington, D.C. area. The format had been introduced by RCA two years earlier, and unlike RCA who had resisted embracing the new LP format, Columbia were happy to release tracks on this new format.
