     This issue may be related with the AD Syncing options. Verify in your environment that AD is not syncing passwords into the tenant. This prevents AD Integration Authentication and AD Password Authentication. The only authentication that works on these cases is AD Universal Authentication, as your test shows.

     Your assumption is correct. It evaluates the clauses in your WHERE statement based on the easiest paths, sequentially.

     So, because there is an OR, it first evaluates the @brand ='*' clause; if that yields TRUE, the WHERE clause is satisfied and no further comparisons are made.

     If it yields FALSE, then it evaluates the other clause in the expression: column1 = @brand.

     However, I should note that this is not the correct way to do it in SQL, because SQL Server does not guarantee short-circuiting nor the execution order of logical clauses. It just happens to work that way in your case, but it is not guaranteed. You should change the WHERE clause to look like this:

     ((@brand = '*') OR (@brand <> '*' AND column1 = @brand))-

     You can use SQL Profiler just as you do with all other SQL editions as long as you know the proper server name. You can find the server name using the SqlLocalDb utility.

     To find it, use sqllocaldb info YourInstanceName to find the Instance Pipe Name. It has the form np:\\.\pipe\LOCALDB#12345\tsql\query

     Use this as the server name to connect to the server and start profiling

     Oh my gosh, so many things going wrong here.

     • Converting all of these date/datetime values to strings. Don't do it. Date and datetime values are dates and datetime values - converting them to strings causes all kinds of bad things like lack of validation, inability to use indexes for seeks or range scans, dropping of all kinds of in-built date function support, etc.
     • Converting to varchar without length. This is a bad habit and should be avoided so you aren't a victim to silent truncation.
     • Using BETWEEN for date range queries. You should only do this if the underlying column is DATE, and even then I'd be careful. In order to properly use underlying indexes (that exist today, or that may exist tomorrow), you should use an open-ended date range.

     I think this query is much tidier by avoiding all of the conversions to strings, and also gives you a much better shot at index usage, should an index ever exist on StartDate (today or in the future).

     It may be because GetDate() returns a datetime, complete with timestamp. So if you do dateTo1 >= GETDATE(), you are really saying where dateTo1 >= '01/08/2014 11:44am', for example. '01/08/2014 11:44 am' is greater than a date of '1/8/2014' because the time portion will default to midnight.

     change your query to:

     SELECT sum(price) TODAY_INCOME from roomwhere roomNo IN(select roomNo from booking1WHERE datefrom1 <= CAST(GETDATE() as date) AND dateTo1 >= cast( GETDATE() as date) ANDhotelNo =(select hotelNo from hotelwhere hotelName = 'avari'));
