"Le Grand Chef 2: Kimchi Battle" is more of a spin-off from the original 2007 "Le Grand Chef" film rather than a straight sequel. Both films are based on the comic "Sik Gaek" - which started out as a comic strip in the Donga Daily newspaper then turned into a 25 volume comic series, selling over a million copies.
Loosely based on characters that appeared in Huh Young-man 's celebrated manhwa (comic) series Sikgaek, it is a spin-off of 2007 adaptation Le Grand Chef, but with an original story.
Jan 28, 2010 · This sequel basically has all the positive ingredients from the first film and more. It's one of the better sequels and is superior to the first film in my opinion.

PS I don’t know what the first film in this series is about, but from what I’ve read, this is not truly a “sequel” in that this film doesn’t pick up where the first left off. Share this: Posted in Book Review.
