The whole reason a lot of things are retconned or not directly mentioned is bc Next Class is supposed to be a separate “spin off” of Degrassi. You do not need to watch any earlier seasons to fully understand what goes on. Sure, there’s the backstory with Cam/Maya, but Cam is only mentioned once or twice (not even by name).
