Jul 9, 2016 · The creators either tried too hard to make something complex out of poor ideas or they came up with an idea that was so complex they failed to materialize it. Hitori no Shita is definitely not an anime you die waiting for a new episode every week, but you do die waiting for something interesting to happen while watching it. Art & Animation 2/10

No inner monologuing or over-explaining. The show actually spends a good amount of time with it's main 2 characters and actually has a decent amount of development for them (downside is that there are so many side characters that we barely spend time with). The dialogue is actually good and insightful. The comedy is hilarious.
Personally I don't find the story or the spiritual elements difficult to follow, but I will admit the first 2 seasons are kind of boring for hitori no shita. The 3rd season gets pretty good though, and there are some excellent fight scenes. Haven't seen the 4th season yet though but I have seen some clips that look pretty cool.
Funnily enough, I first saw it on a Instagram anime page at the beginning of the year a few days after it came out. I tried getting a source to watch it back then but at the time it had not been subbed into English yet. So i completely forgot about it until Gigguks video brought it up again.
