Lahr (Schwarzwald) is worth visiting for a number of reasons. But if you’re a flower lover you’d probably want to stay forever. Lahr loves its flowers — tulips, chrysanthemums, roses, and more are on show at the annual Chrysanthema flower show around October-November when a piece of paradise descends to earth, or on Lahr in the Black Forest to be more precise.
Lahr is a cosmopolitan and forward-looking city with an attractive old town. The Tower is all that remains of Tiefburg castle, which was built by the lords of Geroldseck in around 1220. During autumn, Lahr becomes a riot of colour, with a sea of chrysanthemum flowers stretching far beyond the city limits.
