Telemann accepted the invitation to work in Hamburg as Kantor of the Johanneum Lateinschule, and music director of the five largest churches in 1721. Soon after arrival, Telemann encountered some opposition from church officials who found his secular music and activities to be too much of a distraction for both Telemann himself and the townsfolk.
The Telemann Museum is a museum in the Composers Quarter in Hamburg-Neustadt, Germany. It was founded in 2011 and is dedicated to the classical composer Georg Philipp Telemann. The museum is situated in an historical building in the Peterstraße, where Telemann lived and worked from 1721 until his death in 1767.
