When the wives leave for their trip to Paris, Ethel's husband Humphrey convinces George to enjoy themselves without their wives. They go out on the town and bring back Humphrey's secretary and her suicidal friend, but unknown to them, their wives have returned home early.
Mildred goes into hospital with suspected appendicitis so kindly Ann, to Jeffrey's annoyance, has George round for dinner. When he gets home he finds Jerry, who has been evicted, wanting to stay,along with his 'niece.' But the appendicitis is actually indigestion, and Mildred comes home early.
