and Station 19 have had multiple crossover events, allowing characters to appear in either series for a storyline or cameo appearance. Since the debut of Station 19 during the fourteenth season of Grey's Anatomy, several crossover events between the two series have occurred. The characters of Ben Warren, Miranda Bailey, and Andy Herrera are often at the forefront of the crossovers.

Unlike Private Practice, Station 19 takes place in the same city as Grey's Anatomy which allows for secondary characters to also be featured between both shows. Additionally, this allows for characters to casually make cameo appearances on either show without it being considered a crossover event.

•Episode: You Really Got a Hold on Me (GA)

•Characters Crossing Over: Andy Herrera and Ben Warren

The Grey's Anatomy episode "You Really Got a Hold on Me" served as a backdoor pilot for what would become Station 19, introducing the lead character, Andy Herrera, stationed at the titular firehouse Station 19 while transitioning Grey's Anatomy alum Ben Warren to the new show.

The plot revolves around the surgical innovation teams from Jackson's surgical competition working on their projects when Ben and Andy bring in critically injured boys. While Ben struggles to separate his behavior as a former surgical resident from his new duties as an SFD firefighter, Andy, with her hand in one of the boy's torso cavity, is brought into the OR alongside the patient to keep him stable. Meredith has Andy clamp the patient's aorta in order for Andy to remove her hand, and she shortly leaves the OR shortly after. Meeting up with Ben, they both go to an OR gallery to watch the rest of the patient's surgery while Ben reminisces about surgery but reinforces his decision to leave surgery for firefighting. While Andy takes a phone call on Meredith's behalf to assist with the latter's polymer acquisition, Richard advises Ben to stick with the decision of firefighting. The two stay until the doctors advise the boys' mother that they both made it through surgery. Before departing, Ben has a conversation with his wife about missing his prior life a surgeon, given what he's experienced at Grey Sloan, but Miranda advises him to let himself miss it and to stay the course with firefighting. Andy meets with Ben afterwards and they hitch a ride on another rig to be dropped off at their station.

•Characters Crossing Over: Miranda Bailey and Meredith Grey

When SFD Station 19 is called to respond to an apartment fire, Captain Herrera collapses during a sweep investigation and is hospitalized to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. Herrera is then treated at the ER by Miranda with Andy, Ben, and Jack watching. Once Herrera is stabilized and prepped for surgery, Andy admonishes Jack for breaking Herrera's earlier orders by freelancing, leaving Herrera alone when he collapsed. The heated argument is broken when Meredith checks in on Andy, and upon seeing her emotional state, has her moved to a supply closet and gives her the space to let out her feelings. Meredith then encourages Andy to be strong for her dad while she and Miranda work on him in the OR. After the procedure, Meredith and Miranda reveal that although Herrera made it through surgery, it was revealed that he has cancer and that the abdominal tumors resulted in his earlier collapse. Andy confronts her dad about this which prompts him to tell her that he is stepping down as captain and putting Jack in charge. Angered by this decision, Andy eventually puts her own hat in the ring for Station 19's captaincy after having a heart to heart with her childhood friend, Ryan. Herrera accepts and promotes her to lieutenant so both Andy and Jack can be considered for captain.

Meanwhile Ben has a conversation with Miranda about his recent actions as a firefighter being colored by medical and surgical knowledge that could have been detrimental to Herrera's care once Jack and Andy got him out of the apartment building. Miranda then advises Ben to focus on doing the job instead of showing off. Ben then reconciles with fellow firefighters Travis and Vic and strives to be more of a fire-nerd and tone down being a surgery-nerd.

Pruitt hasn't adjusted to his new cancer treatment protocol and visited Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital for a quick check-up. He hoped that he could get medication to counter his nausea and weakness in order to get through work. Pruitt, however, left because Miranda wanted to run testing, and, if anything more serious was discovered, admit him. Pruitt went home soon after, but when Andy questioned his whereabouts, he lied and said he was at poker. When Miranda dropped Ben off to the station the next day, she noticed that Pruitt wasn't as his desk. Because of HIPAA, Miranda can't divulge her concerns about Pruitt with Ben, but she asked Ben to keep an eye out for Pruitt and look for symptoms. Dean also noticed symptoms with Pruitt and asked Ben how serious nausea can be in a hypothetical inquiry. Ben then realized the inquiry was about Pruitt and they confronted Pruitt about it, which led to Pruitt's collapse.

Now admitted to the hospital, Andy arrived and asked why she wasn't kept informed. When Miranda updated Pruitt on his prognosis about the cancer progressing, Andy realized that Pruitt lied to her about poker night which then led to a fight between Andy and Pruitt on why Pruitt keeps things from her. Miranda interrupted the fight and suggested they cool off with Andy leaving while Miranda telling Pruitt that Andy is right with wanting to be kept in the loop about his health. Miranda advised Pruitt that the new protocol will be stronger, but Pruitt reassured her that he's faced much worse, and gave examples of his team's recent firefighting situations that, inadvertently, exposed Ben having kept those things from Miranda. Andy came back to the room after Ben comforted her and Andy decided to stay with Pruitt despite the station being called out to a fire, leaving Jack in charge. Andy then revealed that she made a promise to her mom prior to her mom's death that she would take care of Pruitt, and Pruitt eventually relented, having advised Miranda to now include Andy with his treatment.

    •Episodes: Not Your Hero (S19)

    •Characters Crossing Over: Miranda Bailey

Ben and Miranda arrived at SFD Station 19 late as Ben was running an errand to pick up breakfast tacos for the station crew. Unfortunately, the taco place was closed for renovations, and Ben arrived empty-handed. Concerned that he would lose the respect of his peers, he confessed in Miranda that he should be given more responsibility than getting breakfast tacos. Miranda then decided to speak to Ben's superiors about wasting Ben's talents on errands, and she rushed upstairs. Ben soon followed and discovered this was a ploy, with Miranda as an accomplice, to celebrate a firefighting milestone in Ben's career. He is then treated to an extensive breakfast cooked by Travis' boyfriend, Grant.

Pruitt later called Ryan for assistance so he can be transported to the hospital due to his shallow breathing and not wanting to risk driving. Miranda, concerned that Pruitt didn't make his appointment, arrived at the station to check on Pruitt with Ryan having arrived shortly after. The two then found Pruitt on the catwalk, unconscious, unresponsive, and barely breathing. Miranda administered CPR, but wasn't effective in reviving Pruitt. Ryan then carried Pruitt to his car in order to bring him to the hospital with Miranda following.

•Characters Crossing Over: Andy Herrera, Dean Miller, Ben Warren, Maggie Pierce, Andrew DeLuca, Evan Forrester, Max Forrester, and Natalie Forrester

Natalie and Max Forrester were at home when there was a fire in their building. They were evacuated, but Natalie collapsed while they waited outside to be allowed back in, so Dean and Andy took Max and Natalie to the hospital. At the hospital, Maggie discovered extensive damage to Natalie's heart, likely due to a heart attack that was never treated. Maggie placed an LVAD to try to take some pressure off her heart, but she warned Natalie's husband, Evan, that it was unlikely Natalie would ever wake up. Evan refused to tell Max that his mother was dying. Andrew, trying to help Max cope, took Max to the roof and explained to him that sometimes people don't know how to tell other people bad news. Max thought his mother was already dead and left the hospital on his own.

While fleeing from people searching from him, Max fell into an open maintenance hole and was swept away into the sewer. Maggie and Andrew joined the search and rescue efforts and they followed Max's trail to another access point. As they were setting up to have Maya go down after him, Andy jumped in impulsively, but couldn't get a hold on Max, so he was swept away. This left them with one final chance, but the access point was too small for an adult to go down, so they had to lower a loop for Max to grab and wrap around himself. Max refused to trust his father as he knew his father had lied to him. Desperate, Evan got on the radio and told Max that his mom was dying and apologized for not telling him sooner. Max finally grabbed the loop and was lifted to safety. He and his father then went to the hospital to say goodbye to his mother.

Rachel and Scott Burke were camping when they were attacked by a bear. Rachel had a severed artery in her arm and Scott's face was mangled and his nose was completely removed. They were unable to locate the nose immediately, so they packed his face and put a tourniquet on Rachel's arm, then carried them out of the woods on improvised stretchers. The nose was later located and taken to the hospital in a bag of saline.

At the hospital, Scott had surgery on his face. They were unable to re-attach his nose to his face immediately, so it was attached to his arm to maintain blood flow. He later coded in his room and was unable to be resuscitated. Rachel had surgery on her arm and was stable afterward, but was told she'd need some physical therapy for her arm.
