Macon (/ ˈ m eɪ k ən / MAY-kən), officially Macon–Bibb County, is a consolidated city-county in Georgia, United States. Situated near the fall line of the Ocmulgee River , it is 85 miles (137 km) southeast of Atlanta and near the state's geographic center—hence its nickname " The Heart of Georgia ".

Pop-up bars selling mimosas and a variety of pink beverages can be found on every block. Patios are jam-packed with diners and boisterous bands.
Jan 21, 2003 · Named for North Carolina statesman and U.S.senator Nathaniel Macon, the city was established at the point where the Upper Coastal Plain rises to join the Piedmont, above which the Ocmulgee River is no longer navigable. That location makes it one of the South’s fall-line cities.
