The town is located in the hills of the North Eifel, within the Hohes Venn – Eifel Nature Park in the narrow valley of the Rur river. The historic town center has many preserved half-timbered houses and narrow streets have remained nearly unchanged for 300 years, making the town a popular tourist attraction nowadays.

Looking at a map, you will find that the town is located approximately 140 kilometers west of Cologne and also very close to the Belgian border. The town is easily accessible by car via the A44 and A61 motorways. From Cologne to Monschau, take the A4 westbound towards Aachen, then continue on the A44 to Monschau.
Mar 14, 2019 · Monschau is situated within the pretty Eiffel National Park, which is full of rolling hills. If you love hiking, an overnight stay combined with biking or hiking would be great for seeing more of the area (especially if you have a car).
