    •Stargirl was renewed ahead of its second season premiere, as The CW sought stability in their future lineups.

    •When speaking on the renewal, CW president Mark Pedowitz said, “While each boasts remarkable talent on both sides of the camera, Kung Fu and DC’s Stargirl have not only treated fans to some visually stunning action and high-flying heroics, but they also both strike very powerful emotional chords as they delve into the family dynamics and personal relationships at their core, and we are so excited to see what happens next.”

    •The pick-up of Stargirl, meanwhile, is part of a deal between The CW and HBO Max to co-finance the show. The show originally aired as part of DC Universe, but was renewed for a second season by The CW in summer 2020 and a deal was worked out between the broadcast network and the streamer where The CW gets first run followed by its launch on HBO Max.

    •The series moves to the Fall slot for the first time since its debut. It also takes Wednesday nights for the first time, but retains its 8-9 PM slot time.

    •Neil Hopkins (Larry Crock) and Joy Osmanski (Paula Brooks) were promoted to series regulars for this season. They previously appeared as recurring guest stars in Season 1 and Season 2.

    •Stargirl graphic designer Shawn McBee confirmed that the series would not be moving to Vancouver for Season 3, but rather, they would stay in Atlanta as they had in previous seasons. He later reiterated that he had information from the highest authority that not only would the series not leave Atlanta for Season 3, but there were no foreseeable moves in the future.

    •The theme for Season 3 is a murder-mystery, while also dealing with heroes and villains living side-by-side to solve the murder.

    •The theme of the season was inspired by Knives Out.

    •One episode is titled "Infinity, Inc Part One" while it's subsequent episode is titled "Infinity, Inc Part Two". Previously, all thirteen episodes had been listed as following the chapter format from Season 2.

    •Because of the off-screen chemistry between Meg DeLacy and Yvette Monreal, Geoff Johns made a conscious decision to explore the dynamic between Cindy and Yolanda. Meg teased that the relationship is very mean-girl-esque with a lot of retorts. She found it fun for Cindy to be mean towards Yolanda and having that thrown back at her by Yolanda.

    •Anjelika Washington teased that Beth and Cindy might become friends this season.

    •During Stargirl Aftershow the cast teased Season 3 while reflecting on Season 2.
