Bachman-Turner Overdrive, also known as (BTO), is a Canadian rock group formed in the early 1970s. The Early Days and Formation. The seeds of BTO were sown when Randy Bachman, formerly of The Guess Who, decided to form a new band. He was joined by his brothers, Robbie and Tim Bachman, and Fred Turner, a seasoned vocalist and bassist.
