    • Cape Town. The most visited city in the country is achingly beautiful to behold, thanks to the glistening waters that lie before it and the iconic Table Mountain that forms such a stunning backdrop.
    • Durban. The third largest city in South Africa is a bustling place, thanks in part to its gigantic port – the largest in Africa. Much has changed in recent decades – the end of apartheid saw the city welcome many nearby Kwa-Zulu residents, who now make Durban one of the most African cities in the country.
    • Johannesburg. With around ten million residents, Johannesburg is the largest city in South Africa and is the economic heart of sub-Saharan Africa. Tellingly, however, almost half of the population live in townships such as the famous Soweto, and due to the huge inequality in wealth, crime is a big problem here – as is poverty.
    • Pretoria. Lying just fifty kilometers from Johannesburg, the executive capital of the country, Pretoria, is a pretty place to wander around. Its leafy streets are lined with some delightful old architecture.
    • Cape Town. Cape Town is, without a doubt, one of the most famous cities in South Africa and one of the country’s best. In my opinion, it is even a good contender for one of the world’s best!
    • Johannesburg. Johannesburg, also referred to as “Jozi” or “Joburg” for short, is South Africa’s biggest city. Classed as a megacity, Johannesburg covers a massive area of over 2000 square kilometers, making it larger than cities like London and New York.
    • Durban. Durban is a coastal city located in the KwaZulu-Natal province in eastern South Africa. Even though it is not the first place that comes to mind when you think of the country, Durban actually has many claims to fame.
    • Pretoria. Given it is the country’s administrative capital, you would not expect much from Pretoria. During their travels around South Africa, many people dismiss it as being a dull political location: a place for the government and foreign embassies.
