The story formed the basis of the novel The Positronic Man (1992), co-written with Robert Silverberg, and the 1999 film Bicentennial Man, starring Robin Williams. In terms of setting, this novelette spans a time period of 200 years.

‘The Positronic Man’, yet another of the many Science-Fiction books by Isaac Asimov and Robert Silverberg, probably has become one of my favourite books in this particular genre. Focusing throughout its entire plot on a robot who gradually takes steps towards becoming human, the characters and world are handled beautifully.
