The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 is a 2014 American dystopian action film that is the third installment in The Hunger Games film series. The film is based on the first part of Mockingjay, the third novel in the underlying book trilogy by Suzanne Collins.
After surviving the Quarter Quell, Katniss Everdeen is approached by Plutarch Heavensbee and the mysterious President Alma Coin to becoming the face of the Rebellion as the Mockingjay. But President Snow has plans for Katniss as he uses Peeta Mallark as his weapon to use against her.
A full-on, deliberately suicidal assault on a heavily armed government target faintly echoes images of nonviolent resistance from the Indian uprising against the British and the American Civil Rights movement, up to the point when the advancing rebels quit absorbing punishment and start dishing it out.
Katniss Everdeen is rescued by the rebels and brought to District 13 after she shatters the Hunger Games forever. Under the leadership of President Coin and Plutarch Heavensbee, Katniss spreads her wings and becomes Mockingjay, the symbolic leader of the rebellion.
