The director of PEOPLE WHO OWN THE DARK (ULTIMO DESEO; 1975) was Leon Klimovsky, one of the key figures in the Spanish horror boom of the seventies, which included the iconic Jess Franco, as well as Vincente Aranda (THE BLOOD-SPATTERED BRIDE) and Eloy de La Iglesia (CANNIBAL MAN).
The blind maniacs have only a limited amount of screen time. The film places a lot of emphasis on scenery, the characters, and making you wonder how it'll end and where they'll end up. Some of the dark sequences and scenery with the mansion and countryside give the film a nice atmospheric quality as well.
