Jan 12, 2017 · Kevin Johnson's The Dark Page (2007) says Wylie published this novel in 1942, and MGM released Keeper of the Flame that year too. Screenwriter Donald Ogden Stewart is quoted by Johnson as saying, "It was a very good novel, and I didn't change it much." BTW, Ida Alexa Ross Wylie is one of the few women noir novelists of the 1940s.
