Now, right before the show aired, when the writer's strike was going on, Steven Maeda was still supporting the show and hyping up fans by counting down with set pics until the release. Matt Owens who fully supported the strike stayed mostly silent and then later on called Maeda a "scab" in one of Hasan's interview video.
Steven Maeda did watch some of the anime, but deliberately limited his exposure to it to allow the manga series to have the biggest influence on his live action television series. Maeda didn’t want to do a frame by frame recreation of the manga since manga and television are different storytelling media with different needs.
Actually, I have a ton of questions. 1 is a Netflix adaptation. 2 - Appearance and motivation of the main characters. 3 - The questionable behavior of the showrunner (UPD. main writer), who publicly compares Luffy to Kamala Harris and Trump to Tenrübito. 4 - the atmosphere of the first seasons of the anime will surely be fucked up.
