These one-of-a-kind arrangements are exclusively created by Sandra Charles, Orchid Greenhouse volunteer, and available for sale at the San Mateo Arboretum Society Orchid Greenhouse. Various types of orchids are accented with succulents & planted in Canary Date Palm Tree frond base/planter. Den. Victoria-Reginae.
Ways to Donate. and plants to enhance the community. SMAS accepts plants, cuttings and pots and containers. We use only organic materials so we cannot accept chemicals such as synthetic fertilizers or pest insecticides. You may take these items to the San Mateo County Toxic Waste Drop Off, 32 Tower Road, San Mateo (by appointment).
The Central Park Rose garden is home to 86 roses in 12 beds plus 8 hedged gardens holding 5-7 roses in each, and the circle garden holding 5 roses. In 1975, the San Mateo Arboretum Society was founded thanks to the efforts of Marion Panaretos. An original objective was to promote and grow Central Park as a true arboretum, thus the name. The Kohl Pumphouse became the Arboretum Society headquarters after Marion heard rumors that it was to be demolished and replaced by a bocce ball court.

The pumphouse is located within San Mateo Central Park approximately 100 yards north of the Palm Avenue entrance, 100 yards from El Camino Real and 200 yards from 5th Avenue ( see here ). Weekend rates for the Pumphouse rental are $150/hour with a four hour minimum. Weekdays are $125/hour with a two hour minimum.
