this is a totally absorbing account of Philomena Lynott's experiences as an Irish mother of a black child in England in the early 50's, the prejudice and discrimination that she and Phil experienced is an eye-opener on the racism faced by white women in mixed relationships as well as a good account of Phil's Lynott's own experiences of racism.
