The shrine is dedicated to Amaterasu and Susanoo, and the entire complex is said to have been founded in 757. The Hakata Gion Yamakasa festival is centered on the shrine.
Great shrine in the middle of Fukuoka. A beautiful old shrine built in 757 with lots to see. Gorgeous Gingko trees, the crane fountain, the amazing float used during the Hakata Gion Yamakasa festival which is rebuilt every year and on display here. The detail & colours are incredible. A 1000 year old Gingko tree is also situated here.
Feb 10, 2022 · Kushida Shrine is located near Reisen Park, in the heart of Hakata. The nearest stations are Nakasukawabata and Gion, on the subway line. From either of these two stations, it takes about 8 minutes on foot to reach Kushida Shrine. It can be easily accessed from Fukuoka's popular shopping center, Canal City Hakata.
