This restricts us to free content only. This principle, like the NPOV policy at Wikipedia, will never change.

Dec 27, 2023 · Getting started. Go to the Upload Wizard on Wikimedia Commons. You can always get to it from the Upload file link in the menu on the left. On the first page of the wizard, read the illustration to understand whether Wikimedia Commons can accept your upload. When you're ready to upload, click Next near the end of the page.

To search in Commons' internal database, use Special:MediaSearch or Special:Search (see also Help:Searching ). There are also several gadgets available to link to these tools - they can be activated by visiting your Preferences .
