John Gordon Groce (/ ɡ r oʊ s /; born September 7, 1971) is an American college basketball coach, currently the head coach for the Akron Zips men's basketball team. Prior to coaching for Akron, he was the head coach at Illinois and Ohio.
Groce led the Zips to five consecutive Mid-American Conference Tournaments, earning the No. 4 seed and defeating fifth-seeded Buffalo (70-68) in the quarterfinal round, top-seeded Toledo (70-62) in the semifinal round and second-seeded Kent State (75-55) in the finals.
