Renan Öztürk (born April 7, 1980) is a Turkish-American rock climber, free soloist, mountaineer, visual artist, and filmmaker. He is best known for climbing the Shark's Fin route on his second attempt to Meru Peak in the Himalayas with Jimmy Chin and Conrad Anker in 2011, where he also suffered a minor stroke.
In 2013, my unique blend of pioneering first ascents and visual storytelling earned me the title of National Geographic Adventurer of the Year. Fast forward to today, and I wear multiple hats: I'm a commercial and documentary filmmaker, an expedition climber for The North Face, and a photojournalist for both Sony and National Geographic.
