Sep 25, 2021 · The story begins and we come across the Kim family comprising of the father Kim Ki-taek (Song Kang-ho), the mother Kim Chung-sook (Jang Hye-jin), the daughter Kim Ki-jung (Park So-dam) and the son Kim Ki-woo (Choi Woo-shik) who are poverty-stricken with low-paying jobs and reside in a small semi-basement apartment.
In the context of the film's events, and the desperation by the Kim family towards the end, added by the stress of the basement, the "deaths", and the comments by Mr. Park, I think the actions seemed reactionary from Ki-Taek's POV. It's his frustration with the entire economic disparity in Korea. His placement in the world.
It is the only way Ki-Jung relieves her stress from the reality. Relationship Status… single without any signs of romance. In contrast to her brother Ki-Woo, Ki-Jung is too well-grounded to look for a potential love interest. Challenge… finding a way out of family's misfortune.
