  7. Nov 30, 2020 · As for Jimmy Iovine...I'm a big fan. I love his work on Damn the Torpedoes/Hard Promises/Long After Dark and I think those are the best sounding albums of Tom Petty's career. I'd put Rick Rubin in second place, then Denny Cordell and WAAAY at the bottom Jeff Lynne. Lynne is the 'worst producer of great albums' I can think of. I loathe his 'sound.'
