In 1951, the syndicated television series Boston Blackie premiered, starring Kent Taylor. It ran until 1953. By this point, Blackie's long, twisted journey and transformation from east coast con to southern California private eye was complete, with him tooling around Los Angeles in a snazzy convertible with his best gal, Mary, and his faithful canine companion, Whitey, by his side.

Blackie discovers Carter and Sandra trying to break into the safe, and slugs Carter, but Carter overpowers him and then notifies Farraday that he has caught Blackie trying to crack Kenyon's safe. When Farraday arrives, Blackie produces the combination, proving Carter's accusation to be false.

Morris plays Boston Blackie, a notorious, but honorable jewel thief. Although the character had been the hero of a number of silent films, this was the first talking picture.
