Jan 3, 2017 · The film certainly doesn’t pull any punches, but it also betrays some of the psychological questions posed during the first half of the movie. But all in all, The Initiation is a fun addition to the slasher genre, with more than enough ambition to make up for some of the misjudged beats in the narrative.
Jan 4, 2020 · REVIEW: For some unknown reason The Initiation has always been pretty much overlooked by most horror fans. I personally think that it is a pretty neat little slasher flick that boasts an incredible cast (including Daphne Zuniga, Vera Miles from Psycho and Psycho II, and genre mainstay Clu Gulager), an interesting premise, some fun death scenes ...
But the movie gets an A for effort, because it has something special. Every soap opera fan may decipher the great mystery early on, but it's still fun. The dialogues are much wittier than many other slashers like that. And the actors are also great, especially Daphne Zuniga.
