About Bajofondo. Bajofondo, formerly known as Bajofondo Tango Club, is an Argentine-Uruguayan tango fusion collective led by Grammy-winning producer Gustavo Santaolalla. In general, the collective fuses acoustic tango with electronic music, resulting in a contemporary style representative of the Rio de la Plata music scene in the 21st century.
Their debut, Bajofondo Tango Club, was released soon after Gotan Project's album La revancha del tango. It is of obvious comparison but Bajofondo has a more radical and futuristic sound, obtaining a Latin Grammy in the category "best instrumental/pop" in 2003.
