In New Orleans, Will Gerard (Nicolas Cage) is a humble English teacher at Rampart High School. Will's best friend Jimmy (Harold Perrineau) also works at the school. Will's wife Laura (January Jones) is a musician who is in a local orchestra. One night, after a performance, Laura is beaten and brutally raped by a stranger named Hodge (Alex Van).
One dark night on her way home, she's assaulted and raped, and in the hospital waiting room, Will is approached by a creep named Simon ( Guy Pearce ), who offers to have Laura's attacker "taken care of." No money is involved; Will must simply promise to do Simon a small favor at some point in the future.
Seeking Justice. Nicolas Cage (Con Air) is Will Gerard, a family man whose wife, Laura (January Jones of Mad Men), is attacked. A stranger, Simon (Guy Pearce of The King's Speech) offers revenge on the attacker in exchange for a favor from Will.
