" Y.A.L.A. " is a song by recording artist M.I.A. from her fourth album Matangi, released in 2013. It was released as the fourth single from the album. This percussive club-thumper from M.I.A's Matangi album finds her taking a pop at Drake's YOLO motto ("you only live once"). The singer prefers the more spiritual YALA, which stands for "You Always Live Again."
Y.A.L.A M.I.A is a little overkill by acronym. However such a death is OK, as clearly YALA = You Always Live Again as espoused in her Sri Lankan roots . The last verse in particular being a great critique of those who quote the opposite YOLO (You Only Live Once) yet live with an apathy that suggests there were many others to come.
