  2. The Dresden Academy of Fine Arts (German Hochschule für Bildende Künste Dresden), often abbreviated HfBK Dresden or simply HfBK, is a vocational university of visual arts located in Dresden, Germany.

  3. With a history of over 250 years, the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts is one of the oldest training institutions for fine arts in Europe. It was founded by the Wettins as the “Haupt-Kunst-Akademie” (Main Art Academy) in 1764.

  4. The Fine Arts study programme provides students with the opportunity to gain basic experience and skills from the diversity of contemporary art in order to pursue their own artistic path.   8. Locations. The university is located at three places. The studios and workshops of Faculty I, Fine Arts, are spread over the locations Brühlsche Terrasse and Pfotenhauerstraße. The Brühlsche Terrasse building also houses the Oktogon's exhibition rooms, the academy’s archive, as well as the anatomical collection.
