Te Vaka is a group of musicians and dancers with origins from various Polynesian backgrounds (including Tokelau, Tuvalu, Samoa and New Zealand) that formed in 1997, under the leadership of award-winning songwriter, Opetaia Foaʻi.
Opetaia Foa'i is a Samoan-born, Tokelauan-Tuvaluan singer, guitarist and composer who leads the Contemporary Polynesian band Te Vaka. He is also known for writing songs for the Disney animated film Moana, such as We Know the Way and Logo te Pate, and for his activism for Pacific issues.
