Alain Robbe-Grillet (French: [alɛ̃ ʁɔb ɡʁijɛ]; 18 August 1922 – 18 February 2008) was a French writer and filmmaker. He was one of the figures most associated with the Nouveau Roman ( lit. ' new novel ' ) trend of the 1960s, along with Nathalie Sarraute , Michel Butor and Claude Simon .
Alain Robbe-Grillet (born Aug. 18, 1922, Brest, France—died Feb. 18, 2008, Caen) was a representative writer and leading theoretician of the nouveau roman (“new novel”), the French “anti-novel” that emerged in the 1950s. He was also a screenwriter and film director.
