is a comedy-drama television series created by Tim Maile and Douglas Tuber. It stars Sara Paxton and aired on Family Channel in Canada and on Discovery Kids and as a part of Discovery Kids on NBC in the United States from October 2004 to March 2006.
The series proved popular at the time of its run, spawning merchandise such as a soundtrack, books and a western-themed clothesline, and is one of Paxton's most famous roles and often considered the source of her rise to fame.
Darcy Fields is the daughter of Victoria Fields, an eccentric actress who decides to move away from Malibu to raise her daughter in a more normal environment. •Sara Paxton as Darcy Fields, the main protagonist who loves fashion and doesn't know too much about nature and is terrified of animals until she moves to what she calls "the middle of nowhere". She was born in a parking lot of her mother's movie premiere. She is always trying new things in a small town. •Natalie Redford as Victoria Fields, Darcy's mother who was a famous actress before she had Darcy. She owns a farm house where she and Darcy live. •Shannon Collis as Lindsay Adams, Darcy's best friend and often the voice of reason for her. Lindsay is a hard-working girl that works in her dad's vet/pet shop. She has a crush on Eli, is a straight A-student, and sometimes is in conflict with Darcy. Her dreams is to be a marine vet. Her mother died when she and Jack were very little. •Kerry Michael Saxon as Eli, a sweet, clumsy boy and Lindsay's crush. He works for Victoria and knows a lot about animals, and is always getting himself into a sticky situation. •Andrew Chalmers as Jack Adams, Lindsay's younger brother. He craves fame, and is always trying to do something either to get money or fame. •Kevin Symons as Dr. Kevin Adams, the vet at Creature Comforts. He is quite eccentric but a kind and competent veterinarian, and like a dad to Darcy. He often tells disturbing stories, particularly about bad incidents with gourmet food, which can annoy Darcy. •Melanie Leishman as Kathi Giraldi, another one of Darcy's best friends. She is naïve and doesn't always stand up for herself. She is bubbly and often rambles on about random subjects.
