May 4, 2018 · Ooh La La: An Island Harvest looks at Ronnie and Slim Chance’s time with Island Records where Ronnie released two albums – Ronnie Lane’s Slim Chance and One for The Road. This collection features highlights from those albums as well as covers of classic tracks delivered in the inimitable “Plonk” style.
Oct 1, 2014 · The two-disc, 37-track Ooh La La: An Island Harvest — drawn from Lane’s stint with Island Records, which yielded his two best solo efforts, 1974’s Slim Chance and 1976’s One for the Road — is hardly a perfect anthology. The liner notes are amateurish, the recording info is skimpy, and the sequencing reverses the chronology of the two albums.
Ooh La La: An Island Harvest makes for absolutely essential listening for anyone interested in Lane and mid-'70s rock & roll. That said, it creates real longing for official reissues of all three RLSC albums and whatever else remains in the can. Note: 2019 official re-issue of Ronnie Lane & Slim Chance Albums.
