Aug 27, 2010 · A former director at Grampian Television for more than 30 years who also directed the Scotland the What? comedy show, has died, aged 81. Friends and former colleagues of Alan Franchi, have been paying tribute to a “charismatic” and “considerate gentleman”.

The producers and drirectors of Scotland The What? were James Logan, who called the cast "The Boys" from their early days in 1967 through to 1993. Grampian Television producer Alan Franchi. Director James Logan died in 1993 and was honoured by The Boys during their Freedom of Aberdeen ceremony in 2008.
It was there that she met her husband, producer and director Alan Franchi. She joined BBC Scotland in around 1979. Her first report may have been broadcast on Reporting Scotland on Wednesday 9 May 1979: a film report on the twinning of Houston, Texas and Aberdeen.
