After Bevan left the band in late 1999, he sold his half of the rights to the Electric Light Orchestra name back to Jeff Lynne, and the band changed its name to The Orchestra.
He is the co-founder and currently the sole member of the rock band Electric Light Orchestra (ELO), which was formed in 1970, and as a songwriter has written most of the band's hits, including "Evil Woman", "Livin' Thing", "Telephone Line", "Mr. Blue Sky", "Don't Bring Me Down" and "Hold On Tight".

Jeff Lynne became the de facto leader, added several string players to replicate the classical accompaniment first provided by Wood, and fairly swelled with ambitious designs. Electric Light Orchestra II is classical rock at its most literal, attempting to blend classical passages with rock songs.
