Philip Rubens (1574–1611), was a Flemish antiquarian, librarian, philologist and city administrator from the Habsburg Netherlands. He was the older brother of the prominent Flemish Baroque painter Peter Paul Rubens. [1] Life. Philip was born on 27 April 1574 in the city of Siegen to Jan Rubens and Maria Pypelincks.
